Featured Vehicle: 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350

When owning a performance car, one of the first considerations is maintaining it's impressive looks. And there are common things you want to avoid while driving or keeping it clean. Rock chips, bugs, minor scratches and swirl marks, to name a few. This week we had the opportunity to work on the new 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, with eye-catching, Rapid Red paint and black, dual, full-length stripes. Car and Driver Magazine describes it as, "a powerful, high-strung muscle car designed to rock race tracks while still being at home on the street. Its special 5.2-liter V-8—code-named Voodoo, with good reason—makes 526 horsepower and revs to a dizzying 8250 rpm with an unforgettable shriek that sounds more Ferrari than Ford." Daniel and Elisa installed paint protection film to the full front, which covers the hood, fenders, bumper and mirrors. We used XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS™ , our industry leading, self-healing film. This is a high quality film that will resist staining, maintain a quality finish and comes with a 10-year warranty. Do you have questions about paint protection film, ceramic coating, or window tint? Toyota 4Runner Gets the STEALTH Treatment

There’s something truly amazing that happens when applying XPEL STEALTH to a white vehicle. It’s subtle, but the frosted, smooth, finish is unmistakably unique. Last week we had the opportunity to install it on this 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road. A question we often get is, “What’s the difference between vinyl and PPF?” In the car world a "wrap" can mean a couple things. It can mean wrapping the entire vehicle in vinyl to change the color, add an advertising logo, or to enhance aesthetic looks of the vehicle or it can mean covering a vehicle in paint protective film (PPF).  Unlike PPF, vinyl is purely cosmetic and provides relatively no paint protection or defense against rock chips.  For this 4Runner, we did a full wrap, which means full coverage of a vehicle's painted surfaces in PPF. Our most popular paint protection film is XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS; a beautiful additional clearcoat urethane film that protects a vehicle's paint and provides a high gloss finish. Another, more unique option, is XPEL STEALTH; a beautiful satin urethane film that protects a vehicle's paint while providing a sleek satin finish. Both ULTIMATE PLUS and STEALTH protect a vehicle from unsightly damage and maximizes re-sale value. Both also are self-healing, stain resistant and have a 10-year transferable warranty. This 2020 Toyota 4Runner is a beautiful example of a full wrap in STEALTH PPF. The once super white glossy paint of this vehicle is not only protected on every surface but now sports a gorgeous frozen looking matte satin finish! This 4Runner was also tinted with XPEL XR PLUS window tint to add up to 98% heat rejection to the windows, windshield and sunroofs. Do you have questions about window tint, paint protection film or ceramic coating? See our services pages for more details or let us know how we can help. You can contact us online or ask for Brett Clark if you come by our location near IH-10 and UTSA Blvd.

Hello Beautiful – Corvette C8 Gets Ultimate Protection

A very unique Chevrolet Corvette C8 has arrived…meet Black and Blue from Corpus Christi, Texas. To keep her cool and protected, we gave her the full treatment of window tint, paint protection film, and finally a ceramic coating to maintain her flawless appearance. We applied XPEL PRIME XR window film, that has a multi-layer, nano-ceramic technology and provides superior heat rejection, blocking up to 98% of the infrared heat. Also, the Skin Cancer Foundation recommends this product as an effective UV protectant. To protect the paint, we applied XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS™ paint protection film. This is a virtually invisible urethane layer that protects your vehicle’s paint from everyday damages including scuffs, scratches, chips, and more. We covered the full front of the vehicle, as well as A Pillar, Roof Leading Edge Guard, Rocker Panels, Rear Spoiler, Aero Blades, and Door Edges. And for that extra layer of protection and shine, we applied XPEL FUSION PLUS™ ceramic coating. This professionally applied product is specifically formulated to use on XPEL paint protection film. It enhances gloss and increases color depth, improves stain resistance, and has a self-cleaning hydrophobic formula. Do you have questions about window tint, paint protection film or ceramic coating? Automotive Window Tint Frequently Asked Questions

As the temperature begins to heat up, we anxiously anticipate freedom from our new normal of shelter in place or some version of self-quarantine. We want to get out, rekindle the love affair we have with our vehicles, and prepare for those daily commutes back to the office or much-needed, weekend road trips. With all that in mind, our customers have been asking more questions about the topic of window tint. From recent conversations, we have narrowed it down to five. Plus, added a few photos of recent tint installations – enjoy. Do I Need Window Tint? There are many reasons our customers ultimately decide to install window tint: Reduced glare from the sun, enhancing visibility and reducing eye strain; Blocks solar heat radiation, keeping vehicles cool and improve fuel efficiency; and Protection from harmful UV rays, that can cause skin cancer and skin damage. UItimately, it's your decision. What does VLT Mean?  The percentage of light that a window tint film allows to pass through your car windows is called the VLT (Visible Light Transmission), and each state has different legal allowable limits. A Higher VLT means that more light can pass through the window tint film. Example: a 75% tint will allow 75% of the light to pass through whereas a 25% tint will only allow 25% of the light to pass through, making the 25% tint a much darker film Our installer, Trae is making magic happen, applying XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS PPF on the Full Front (Bumper, Mirrors, Headlights, Fog lights, Hood & Fenders) as well as rocker panels of a 2017 Corvette Stingray.  This ‘Vette also received XPEL PRIME XR window tint that will now give it 88% IR heat rejection for those sunny Texas hill country drives.   Are There Different Kinds of Window Tint?  Yes. Film and film performance levels vary because of how the film is made. Films can be dyed, hybrid, nano-ceramic or – as with XPEL PRIME XR PLUS™ - made with a proprietary blend of metal and metal oxide nano particles. Depending on type, though, infrared heat rejection levels will vary from 45% to 98%. For more information check out our window tint page. Will Window Tint Interfere with My Cell Phone Reception?  That depends on the type of window film you choose. For ceramic films no, they will not interfere with radio, cellular, or Bluetooth signals. This 1973 Porsche 914, is an antique (by definition), but oh so fun to drive. No tint on this one, as it's best to be enjoyed with the top off and windows down.  We installed XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS paint protection film on the hood and fenders to keep it looking good.    Does XPEL Provide a Warranty? Yes. All XPEL PRIME™ automotive window film is backed by a transferable, lifetime warranty against peeling, cracking, bubbling or turning purple. If you have any other window tint related questions, we are here to answer them. Just call, stop by our XPEL San Antonio location or contact us online.
